 Doug Griffin

Doug has been surfing for 32 of his 47 years on this planet. Recently retired as a supervisor from the Jacksonville Electric Authority after 26 years of high voltage work, Doug now spends his free time surfing, fishing, playing the guitar and generally making the rest of us jealous. His favorite surf trip so far has been to Australia, and he frequently travels with his wife, Paula, an outdoor photographer extraordinaire.

Gary Wendell Above and Below

Gary has been a devoted surfer for the past 23 years and is an avid snowboarder as well. Growing up surfing spots like Little Talbot Island and the North Jetties greatly contributed to his local surfing knowledge. Now at 38 years young, Gary is heavily involved in the local surfing scene with the WaveMasters and Eastern Surfing Association. He is employed by the Postal Service as an Artist/Illustrator, which has enabled him to contribute greatly to the many needs of the club. With an always-packed social schedule, Gary can be counted on to keep the new recruits coming in.

Jim, a manager for Thermodyne Services, Inc., has been surfing for 15 years. When not at his favorite secret spot, you can usually find Jim scuba diving in Barbados with his wife, Paula, or in Costa Rica spending extended amounts of time on the nose of his longboard.

Cliff Michaelsen and Emily

Prior to now, his life has been above 45 degrees latitude, where the water
is seldom above 45 degrees Farenheit. all that is good for is shrinkage,
miserable surfing, and too much snow!  Originally from New England, Cliff
has spent most of his life in the back-country, and on the rough Atlantic
waters of Maine.  His desire to spend more time in the water. other than
just yanking lobsters from it, has brought him to the First Coast.  To pay
the bills, he has worked as an environmental researcher for NOAA, US EPA,
and as a TV meteorologist for 21 years.   His eight year old daughter,
Emily, is now excited about learning how to surf from 'Big Shrimpin', and it
doesn't get much better than that does it!
